Wasp Helicopter Reunion 2008

Welcome to the site for a Reunion marking 20 years since the Wasp helicopter was withdrawn from Royal Naval service.

Old and bold ex-Waspies John Beattie and John Adams decided over a few glasses that it would be a great idea to mark the occasion and coerced young Nick Foster to help organise a 'grand day out'.

The event will be celebrated with a Cocktail Party followed by Dinner at the Fleet Air Arm Museum on 12 April 2008. There will also be an opportunity to fly in dual controlled Wasps during the afternoon. (NO MORE REQUESTS FOR FLIGHTS PLEASE - FULL UP!!)

Saturday 12 April 2008 (BOOKING CLOSES ON 7 APRIL)

Location

The Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton. Free entry to museum for ticket holders from 14.30.

Timings

1500 - 1730 Flights in Wasp helicopters (NO MORE REQUESTS FOR FLIGHTS PLEASE - FULL UP!!)

1800 - 1900 Cocktail Party on Museum 'Flight Deck'

1930 - 2359 Silver service dinner dance under Concorde.

Tickets

Tickets £58 per person (to include CTP, Dinner with wine/soft drinks). There will also be guest speakers during the evening. Cash bar during and after dinner.

Eligibility

All Wasp aircrew (pilots, observers, aircrewmen - RN and Exchange), Air Engineering Officers and Staff Officers from IFTU, 703, 706 and 829 Naval Air Squadrons. Also Commanding Officers and Commanders (Air) from RNAS Portland and Culdrose(when the Wasp was based there). Plus spouses/partners.

Before and After Events

For those that wish to meet for a pie and pint earlier on Sat 12 Apr, the r/v is the Lamb and Lark pub in Limington (3m south from VL) from 1200. And for the survivors on Sun 13 Apr, the r/v is the Red Lion at Babcary (4m north from VL) also from 1200.
